OPENING: Heather Aubrey Lloyd
David Buskin grew up in the Bronx. He graduated from Brown University in 1965 in the middle of the folk music era. After Brown, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where he began to write his own brand of folk-rock songs. After selling five songs to Mary Travers Buskin toured with her for several years as her opening act. Some of the other artists who have recorded his songs include: Judy Collins, Peter, Paul & Mary, Johnny Mathis, Tom Rush, Roberta Flack, Dixie Carter, Astrud Gilberto and Tracy Nelson. In addition to his folk-rock music, Buskin has written numerous advertising jingles. He also helped create the childrens show Generation O, on the WB Kids Network. He is currently working on a play. David is also one part of the duo Buskin & Batteau. Together they were the back up band for Tom Rush. David also performs with his partners, Rob Carlson and George Wurzbach in the group Modern Man.
Heather Aubrey Lloyd has co-fronted Baltimores ilyAIMY for two decades. Traveling the country playing Lloyds collection of stories turned lyrics became her first solo studio effort, A Message in the Mess. Each narrative is offered up in her passionate, sing-me-the-phone-book alto. Her finger-picked guitar says folk. Her lyrics show the influence of Baltimore's slam poetry scene. Her hand percussion says world music.
"Janis Joplin ... and Joni Mitchell blended together," ~ The Montgomery Caller.
Mess received the Director's Award for Album of the Year from the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, and the awards haven't stopped since: 2018 No Depression Magazine Songwriting Award Finalist, 2018 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival MOST WANTED Artist, 2018 National Women's Music Festival Emerging Artist, 2017 Telluride Troubadour Top 4. She is a Grand Prize winner of the prestigious Bernard Ebb Songwriting Award (2019). Live shows are back, with Lloyd recently opening shows for Gretchen Peters and Gordon Lightfoot. Lloyd has been a Lilith Fair Talent Search Finalist. ilyAIMY is a repeat Best Contemporary Folk Group/Duo in the Washington Area Music Awards, among other honors.
