THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK REDISCOVERED
The Los Angeles Theater Organ Society will present a unique and exciting show featuring award-winning artist Mark Herman performing on the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse's fabulous Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ, with guest artist and popular vocalist Anthony Snitker. They will perform a variety show of music from the Golden Age of American songwriting. With songs from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s, the show will feature the music of composers such as George Gershwin, Harry Warren, Cole Porter, and many more. Hear the majestic Mighty Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ create its classic vintage sounds and guest artist Anthony Snitker offer his signature and authentic vocal interpretations of some of the 20th Century's greatest compositions.
ABOUT MARK HERMAN:
Born in 1987, Mark Herman is one of America's busiest young theatre organists, performing over 30 concerts and silent film presentations each year across the US and abroad. In July of 2012, he was named the American Theatre Organ Society's Organist of the Year and is the youngest person ever to receive the prestigious honor. Mark Herman studied theatre organ with John Ferguson of Indianapolis, who is recognized worldwide for his skills as a teacher. He studied classical piano with Christine Freeman.
After graduating with a degree in Theatre Arts/Management from DePaul University in Chicago, Mark relocated to Indianapolis, where he runs Mark Herman Design, a creative marketing and web agency. He also represents the Allen Organ Company with Meridian Music, and is in demand as a voicing specialist and tonal consultant for Allen Organs. He is proud to be an Allen Artist, showcasing new Allen Organs in the US and abroad.
ABOUT ANTHONY SNITKER:
A native of the small river town of McGregor, Iowa, Anthony now resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he is VP of Operations and Business Development for Mark Herman Design. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2010 with a BA in Musical Theatre.
Anthony is an active performer in the Indianapolis theatre scene, and his favorite past roles include Melchoir in Spring Awakening at Columbia College; Huck Finn in Big River; Man 2 in Songs for a New World; and Hero in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He recently performed the role of Jack in the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre's production of Stephen Sondheim's musical Into the Woods in Carmel, IN. Besides singing and acting, Anthony is also a dancer. His experience ranges in many styles of dance including tap, swing, jazz, ballet, modern, and contact improvisation.
