Bios:
Tomoya Aomori - Bass
As a recipient of the William Schuman Prize, Tomoya Aomori graduated from The Juilliard School with a double major in Percussion and Double Bass.
As a percussionist, he is a frequent sub with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and has played concertos with the Juilliard Orchestra, Children's Orchestra Society, and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. He was featured at Alice Tully Hall's Opening night performing Osvaldo Golijov's "Mariel" with cellist Maya Beiser, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall with the Met Chamber Ensemble performing Pierre Boulez's "Sur Incises" under James Levine. In the summer of 2011 he gave a 4-mallet marimba masterclass at The Juilliard Percussion Seminar directed by Joseph Gramley, a member of the Silk Road Ensemble.
As a Double Bassist, he is a regular performer with the New York Chamber soloists, and has attended worldwide music festivals such as the Lucerne Festival Academy (Switzerland), Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (Germany), and the Pacific Music Festival (Japan). He won the International Society of Bassists Young Bassist Competition in 2003. As an educator he is currently a Double Bass assistant teacher at the Juilliard Pre-College Division, Double Bass Professor at Queens College, Strings Professor at Molloy College, and faculty/conductor at the Children's Orchestra Society.
Tomoya is married to Cellist Julia MinJeong Kang, and together they perform as the Aomori-Kang Duo (www.AKDuo.com)
Tomoya plays the Bass in 5ths tuning, a special tuning that makes the instrument resonate with more depth and ring compared to the traditional 4ths tuning Bass. He is the creator and founder of www.playthe5bass.com, a website promoting 5ths tuning Bass.

Julia Kang - Cello
Cellist Julia MinJeong Kang is a versatile musician with a growing career as a soloist and a chamber musician.
She has been featured as a soloist with several orchestras, including the "Arco" Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Pops Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Neeme Järvi. Mrs. Kang has also been heard in the Young Musician's Concert at Carnegie Hall, a radio show "From the Top", and has given many solo recitals across the United States.
Recognized in numerous competitions, she has won the first prize in the Associated Music Teacher's League of NY and ASTA state competition, as well as second prize and third prizes in New Jersey Symphony Young Artist Auditions. Other awards and honors include the Governor's Award in Arts Education, Merit Award from ARTS, Children's Foundation for the Arts Scholarship Award, the Samuel Mayes Memorial Cello Award, and Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship Award.
As an active chamber musician, she won the 2007 Lillian Fuchs chamber competition. She has played with chamber groups such as Solisti Ensemble, Salome Chamber Orchestra, Paumonok Trio, and Camarata Virtuosi. She has attended the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Pacific Music Festival, the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Castleton Music Festival. She is currently a chamber music/cello faculty at Children's Orchestra Society and a newly appointed Applied Strings Adjunct faculty at Molloy College.
Mrs. Kang received her Bachelor's degree from Manhattan School of Music in 2007, and Master's degree from The Juilliard School in 2009. Her past teachers include Marion Feldman and Bonnie Hampton.
She is currently pursuing her DMA degree at Stony Brook University under the instruction of Colin Carr. She is a recipient of the Staller Scholar Award.
Julia is married to bassist and percussionist Tomoya Aomori, and together they perform as the Aomori-Kang Duo (AKDuo.com).

Man Wai Che, Double Bass and Beatbox
Man Wai Che is a double bassist who is passionate in innovating a more ergonomic way of bass playing as well as maximizing the acoustic potential of the instrument.
He is constantly experimenting in hopes to solve the physical challenges of bass playing, pushing the solo boundary of double bass by being the first to perform works such as Chaconne from the partita in D minor by Bach,
Carmen fantasie by Waxman and Paganini caprices on the bass as it was originally written. Few of his teachers in the past included Chan Fei, Ben Musa, Barry Liebermann, Homer Mensch, Albert Laszlo, Jeff Bradetich and Kurt Muroki.
In 2008, Man Wai received his Bachelor degree from The Juilliard School of Music. In his free time, he likes to explore and combine his other hobbies and interests, making trandiciplinary arts. For instance, when he was getting his Artist Certificate in the University of North Texas,
besides being a teaching fellow of double bass, he was also the intramural champion of both billiard and table tennis, UNT concerto competition winner, beatboxing champion, campus-wide Texas Holdem winner,
featured as a close-up magician on the NT news, and student activity director of Hong Kong Student Association. Man Wai has taught and gave master classes in both China and United States. He recently graduated from Stony Brook University with a Master degree.

Hejin Kim, Violin
A native of Korea, Hejin Kim began violin studies at the age of four with her father Jong-Kun Kim. At age thirteen, she made her first public debut with the Seoul Royal Symphony which has been broadcasted by MBC. She was a full scholarship student in the Seattle Conservatory of Music during her high school years. Miss Kim served as a concertmistress of the Seattle Young Virtuosi Orchestra, assistant concertmistress of Texas Music Festival Orchestra and the Principal second in the Manhattan Philharmonia Orchestra. Hejin Kim has performed concerti with the Seattle Young Virtuosi Orchestra at Benaroya recital hall in Seattle and the Queens College Orchestra at Lefrak Hall in New York. She has featured on the Seattle's Radio King FM 'Live by George'.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she participated in various music festivals including Indiana String Festival, Texas Music Festival, Suzuki Music Festival in Japan, Courchevel Music Festival and Vienna Winter Music Festival in Austria. Hejin Kim has won numerous prizes and awards at competitions such as Korean Music Association Competitions, Seattle Young Artist Music Festival and Simon-Fiset Competition. She studied with Lucie Robert at the Manhattan School of Music, where she earned both bachelor and master of music degrees. Currently, Miss Kim is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

DanBee Park, Violin
Performing with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of eleven, violinist DanBee Park made her solo debut by playing Mozart's Concerto No. 4. Invited as a soloist again to the same orchestra the following season, she performed the Mozart and Wieniawski first concertos. Her subsequent solo appearances include concerts with the Seoul Sinfonietta, the Kyong Nam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, and the Lanzhou Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Park's recital experience includes benefit concerts in Korea at the Seoul Arts Center, where she performed at the invitation of the benefactor of the concert hall. Other recitals and venues have included the Kumho Prodigy Concert, the Neue Galerie New York, and The William's Memorial Residence. WQXR has also featured her recorded performance of Waxman's Carmen Fantasie. An active chamber musician who has collaborated with Itzhak Perlman, Paul Katz, and Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, Ms. Park has performed Franck's PianoQuintet in f minor, Mozart's String Quartet No. 14, and Mendelssohn's String Quintet Op. 87. Her chamber music credits include concerts at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Jaewon Chung, Viola
Korean Violist, Jaewon Chung distinguished herself as a sensitive and passionate musician. Ms. Chung appeared in many concerts as a chamber musician and soloist in New York, Seattle, Russia and Korea. She also had chamber coachings with active chamber musicians such as David Krakauer and Todd Phillips. During her Bachelor's Degree, she prized the 'Outstanding Achievement Award' and performed as a selected winner with the PNU orchestra. Ms. Chung earned her Bachelor's Degree at Busan National University, and a Master's degree and Professional Studies Diploma at Mannes College of Music. She is currently pursuing her DMA degree at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey under the instruction of Choong Jin Chang.
