Conflict Resolution for Scientists
Science is not just about equations, experiments, and data. There is also the human element, and experience shows that all does not always go smoothly. From interacting with an advisor, supervising students, navigating departmental politics, to dealing with the dreaded Reviewer #2, conflicts can and do arise. Rather than being sources of annoyance or frustration, handled skillfully conflicts can become opportunities for positive change.
In this two-hour workshop, conflict specialist Dana Caspersen introduces scientists to simple and effective tools for constructively engaging with the conflicts we inevitably encounter, and transforming them into opportunities for positive change.
Attendance is free for graduate students, postdocs, or researchers in any field of science. Online access instructions are provided after registration.
This workshop is hosted by Jonathan Lilly (http://www.jmlilly.net), an oceanographer at the Planetary Science Institute (https://www.psi.edu), a nonprofit research center.
