"Where'd The Snow Go?" HCLA's 2021 Charity Event
Our event "Where'd The Snow Go?" is a family-friendly winter expedition told through acting, music and dance. During this journey, we will meet Micah the Moose and all of their friends in the quest to find the snow. We will learn about facing and overcoming challenges in a positive manner. The expedition will lead into a magical winter ball bringing snow to the youth of California. The ball will have lots of snacks and beverages for sale, a raffle for an art auction with local artists' work created for this specific event!
As you enter the event, there will be a space for the children to work with activities such as crafting snowflakes, and improvisation games before the expedition begins. Once it's the group's turn to go into the expedition, they will experience an immersive wonderland guided by Micah the Moose. Micah will introduce their friends to the group create an environment of education and inclusivity on mental health and climate crisis topics. Once the expedition is over, the children will learn "power words" such as Joy, Love, and Hope and can use them as they move into the Winter's Ball. The Winter's Ball will be in our new student lounge space celebrating its opening: an open dance floor, DJ, art auction tables, food and beverage for sale, and a Photo Booth! After indulging in a night of dancing and fun, the children get to take their creations home and a photo! Purchasing a ticket also comes with a free raffle ticket!
"Where'd The Snow Go?" is supporting the programs of Free Arts Los Angeles. Free Arts mission statement "...seeks to create a diverse community of inclusion, cultural awareness, and acceptance using art as a vehicle and uniting force." HCLA coincides with this statement as our students see the benefit of expressing our struggles through art. Donations will be accepted throughout the event and online.
Hussian College In Studio hosts the event inside Los Angeles Center Studios from 4:00-8:00pm! There will be parking available with guidance to the location of the event inside the lot.
All proceeds from the event will be given to Free Arts.
Covid-19 safety guidelines will be enforced, children under 12 do not need to provide vaccination.
Masks required.
