B'ham Hop is honored to host Sweden's Queen of Swing, the one and only Gunhild Carling, for a rare west coast appearance on Tuesday November 23rd!
Gunhild grew up in a musical family in Sweden. Her clips on social media have accumulated over forty million views. She's been a special guest with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, publishing five music videos and performing over forty shows across North America and Europe.

Gunhild Carling's Unparalleled Timeline:
1982 - First concert at Swing Inn in Malmo, Sweden (Jazz Festival)
1984 - First album "I've Lost my Heart in Dixieland," recorded by Gert Palmcrantz (Phontastic)
1985 - Carling Family participates in several TV shows in Sweden and abroad. Swedish TV-programs: Nygammalt, Affären Ramel, Café Sundsvall, Vi i femman Polish TV. Carling Family played at several festivals, Molde Jazz (Norge), Zlota Tarka (Warszawa), Askersund, and Skeppsholmen och Oslo
1985 - Gunhild recieves Louis Armstrong Award
1986 - Second LP released on Phontastic
1988 - The New Carling Family with jazz, swing and a whole lot of vaudeville has its premiere at jazz festivals and Herräng Dance Camp. Carling becomes a big name in the vintage sub culture of swing dance and lindy hop
1990 - Tours Scotland, France, England, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Wales, Denmark, Norway, plus international jazz festivals in Dresden, Helsinki, London, Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Paris
1998 - Gunhild has a role in The Swedish Television Christmas Calendar as Mary
2000 - Show at German TV channel RTL
2001 - Gunhild forms her own band and plays weekly in Student city Lund
2003 - Solo carreer with Papa Bue and his Viking Jazzband, Arne Domnerus, Jan Lundgren, Lars Erstrand, Eddie Davies, Claes Crona, Svante Thuresson. Releases first solo album "Red Hot Jam" (Music Mecca)
Gunhild creates her own big band Shows "JAZZ VARIETÉ" that becomes a huge succes for fourteen years touring around the world. First show was at Lunds Stadsteater in December 2003
The peak of the Big Band Show Era comes in 2014 with a performance to 5000 people at Terminal Five for Swing Festival Frankie100
2004 - Carling Family releases a new album "20th Jubilee" (Jazz Art Sweden/Hep Town Records). Gunhild guests with the Count Basie Orchestra, playing at the United Nations' 60 year celebration in New York with Harlem Blues and Jazz Band
2010 - Gunhild does a break in TV Show Allsång på skansen (seen by millions) and becomes known to the whole public
2014 - TV show Dancing with the Stars (Sweden), Gunhild comes in 3rd place. Featured in other TV shows Dining with the Stars, Fear Factory, Songwriters Board
2015 - The Big Band show becomes bigger, incuding dance troups, circus acrobats, and strings
2016 - Gunhild starts her YouTube TV program "Gunhild Carling LIVE," a weekly series for jazz and vintage lovers. It gets several viral hits on YouTube, Facebook and IG
2019 - America's Got Talent, Gunhild tours America as Sweden's Queen of Swing
