A Magnificat Finale - Bach Roots Festival
Online ticket sales have now ended for the August 20 performance at Westwood Lutheran Church. Tickets may be purchased at the door beginning at 7:30pm prior to the 8:00pm concert.
The 2021 Bach Roots Festival concludes with J.S. Bach's exuberant and virtuosic Magnificat set for chamber orchestra, choir, and vocal soloists. A rarely performed Magnificat setting by Johann Kuhnau, Bach's predecessor in Leipzig, opens the concert revealing fascinating similarities between the music of two 18th Century Leipzig composers. Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 "Overture" opens this celebratory night.
