Lake Union Civic Orchestra: Weber, Ginastera Harp Concerto and Hindemith
The Lake Union Civic Orchestra opens with Carl Maria von Weber's Overture to Der Freischutz, a romantic piece based on German folk tunes. LUCO principal harpist, Alexa Odell, is featured in Alberto Ginastera's Harp Concerto. Argentinian Ginastera used latin themes and his works have been favored by rock bands. Our finale is Hindemith's popular rhythmic Symphonic Metamorphosis based on melodies of Weber.
