Tom Kell & Emiko Woods In Concert
How does a veteran singer songwriter from Seattle, who wrote his first published song some 45 years ago end up in a duo with a young, gifted singer from Long Beach, California? The answer is as easy as it is improbable. They both share the same musical vision.
Tom Kell began his musical journey years ago fronting an enormously popular Seattle country rock band called "The Skyboys". As the leader of that 7-piece band for some ten years, Tom performed in front of thousands of fans. The Skyboys opened for all the elite country-rock acts that came through Seattle. Acts that included Emmylou Harris, Jimmy Buffet, Firefall, and The Flying Burrito Bros just to name a few!
Eventually, and inevitably Tom moved to Los Angeles to pursue a solo career, under the tutelage of legendary singer-songwriter JD Souther. JD sang on Tom's records and introduced him to the musicians that would make his records so special. Timothy B Schmit, Karla Bonoff, Kenny Edwards, Dan Dugmore and Bod Glaub all became close friends and remain so to this day.
Tom shared the same management as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band who have recorded 7 of Tom's songs over the years. After touring the world as a solo artist and never really reaching that comfortable "star" level, Tom stayed home and wroteandwroteand wrote. Producing CD after CD. Some on his own, but generally with the help of his dear friend Kenny Edwards. He has written Gospel songs, children's songs and hundreds of those heartbreaking, signature Tom Kell story songs. He has mastered his craft. Tom can write a song about anythingas Bob Carpenter (NGDB) once said "Tom writes as easily as the rest of us talk. It's just in his DNA!".
A few years ago and a LOOONG story later, Tom met Emiko Woods. A young and gifted singer who was just beginning to write relevant songs.they began a musical partnership that has now produced two acclaimed CDs and there is a third in the makingDON'T MISS THIS DUOthey will make you laugh AND cry, but mostly they will remind you of that amazing American songwriting tradition that comes from the roads they've walked.together and apart!
