ONLINE: v2.0: Stand Back I'm Going to Try...Science!
Please note: This will be a live, online class offered through Zoom.
To all the geeks out there who think a ridiculous PowerPoint deck, multiple choice poll questions, and an extensive bibliography sounds like a good time, this one's for you... part 2!
By popular demand, this session will cover different subject areas from the Feb 6th class, as well as other brand new content. Extreme science nerd Shay will provide a broad overview of some favorite kink-related (or kink-applicable, or even just too damned interesting to leave out) studies and geeky tidbits, and relate these to a ridiculously broad array of BDSM topics. Specific subject areas in this class will include the science of meeting people, vagus nerve, breath control (not a how-to, physiological background only), fire play, risk awareness, breaking skin, and vector forces. We'll examine questions as basic as "why are we into this kinky stuff, anyway" and as specific as "what is the best skin cleaning agent," physiologically, what is the difference between smothering and strangulation (and why does it matter), and "why shouldn't I string a line between two trees and use it as a hardpoint?" For science!
Note: If you attended the Feb 6th class, this will be 95% new content. This class also stands alone, and attendance in prior classes is not required in any way.
Content warning: Among other content areas, this class includes a discussion of breath control, from a risk awareness (not how-to or instructional) perspective.
Past For Science! attendees have said:
"I love love loved this class. I enjoyed the choose your own adventure aspect and the sheer quantity of topics. I was quite impressed by both the number of poll questions (so fun! so engaging!) and the ability to jump around in the slides. The fire hose style of information made it easy to not feel like I had to grasp and memorize every individual fact. I could see and feel how much time and love you'd put into learning about these topics, and your enthusiasm is always infectious. Thank you again, and congratulations on creating a fantastic new online kinky course!" - spectacles
"AWESOME, geeky and fun-filled science!" - Tessa
"Your class was brilliant. It's been a while since I've stayed up till 1am just learning about science. Thank you so much again, you made science fun for me again." - meliodas
"Thank you very much for presenting the science class! I was looking forward to this since I first saw it posted, and it lived up to every expectation. The time and care you put into the research clearly showed- as did the time and care you put into presentation style. I've been continually impressed with how you manage to project energy to an unseen audience- your presentations have been distinct bright spots in this period of isolation. Thank you very much for all that you do!" - kia
"Shout out to Shay! Your kinky science class pressed all my nerdy buttons!" - Melody Anne
"This online class was so fantastic when I took the first one that I signed up again, and it was still absolutely amazing the second time. Genuinely a highlight of my COVID-Kink experience!" - S
