La tragédie de Carmen
La tragédie de Carmen is opera at its most powerful, a raw and visceral adaptation of Bizet's most popular work -- a 90-minute adaptation of Carmen with 4 singers, 1 actor and a piano.
Performances Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 3:00pm March 28th April 13th, 2014 at The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave, 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60622
Directed by Reshmi Hazra and featuring performances by talented young Chicago opera singers, our take on this piece utilizes Viewpoints, takes inspiration from Brecht, modern Gypsy culture, and integration of the classic opera with modern music practice. The opera is performed almost entirely in French.
