A fine hello to the patrons of PSSO! As you start to look forward to summer, be sure to catch the PSSOs final concert of the season. "A Hero's Life" aptly summarizes this triumphant program. Beethoven opens our concert with the Egmont Overture, followed by Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kije Suite. The latter recounts a satiric comedy set in the court of Czar Paul I where the czar misreads an aide's report and creates a non-existent name "Ki Ji". Afraid to correct an imperial error, the aide creates a paper existence of Lieutenant Kije, hiding the truth from the powerful czar. The concert concludes with triumphant Mahler's Symphony #1. Here is the program at a glance along with our spring concert lineup. "A Hero's Life" (Spring, 5/20/06) Beethoven Egmont Overture Prokofiev Lieutenant Kije Suite Mahler Symphony #1 "Titan" How much does it cost to listen to this wonderful music? Less than the price of a movie ticket! Adults are $5, with students/seniors paying only $3. At the door, prices go up to $8 and $5, so be sure to order your tickets today. To purchase tickets via mailed check or Paypal, simply visit the PSSO website at http://www.psso.org/tickets.aspx. We also offer an option for direct credit card purchases. Please note that a surcharge of approximately $1 per ticket will be added to use this service. Finally, please consider including a tax deductible donation with your ticket purchase. Neither PSSO's conductor (that's me) nor its musicians receive any payment for our efforts, so your donation directly pays for increasing costs of sheet music, rehearsal space, and concert hall rental. Please help us continue providing these wonderful concerts at such reasonable prices. I look forward to seeing you at this exciting performance =) Sincerely, Alan Shen Music Director DIRECTIONS TO TOWN HALL Town Hall is located in downtown Seattle at the southwest corner of 8th Avenue and Seneca Street, just one block east of I-5.
