Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration

J.E.M.S. Theatre celebrates the life, legacy and 90th birthday ("plus one") of ground-breaking Broadway composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim on the occasion of his 90th birthday. A musical tribute concert was to be presented on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Manor Restaurant in West Boylston (42 West Boylston St., Rte. 12), but was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.
The show has now been re-designed and re-scheduled at the same location for Fri. Oct. 29, 2021 at 6:30pm. Besides songs by Mr. Sondheim, there will also be music by Leonard Bernstein, Jerry Herman, Jule Styne, Meredith Willson and others. Music performance rights are paid through ASCAP.
J.E.M.S. co-founder John Leslie is making arrangements, and will accompany singers, most of whom were in another show "The Pirates of Penzance," which was also de-railed by the pandemic.. Featured singers include J. Parker Eldridge, Grace Leslie, Linnea Lyerly, Tracy Martino, Patrick Murphy, Steve Murray, Paul Spanagel, Lisa Tierney, Heidi White, Lydian DeVere Yard and Todd Yard, with guest appearances by brothers Glenn & David Leslie.
Due to the ongoing pandemic and important protocols, all audience members MUST wear a face covering AND present proof of full vaccination, or proof of a recent negative COVID test. West Boylston Board of Health has mandated mask-wearing in public places, and we must all comply for each other's safety. Because of this, we also felt that it would be in the best interest of all if there is no table service for dinner or drinks. Soft and hard drink beverages will be purchased at the cash bar (not included in the admission price).
General admission is $20.00, with cashback of $5.00 for beverage/s at the cash bar. (Folks who paid a higher price in 2020, which included dinner) will be reimbursed by JEMS Theatre.)
Reservations must be made by Tuesday, Oct. 19 in order to give the restaurant a head count for table set-up.
