Program: MOZART: Overture to Le Nozze di Figaro MENDELSSOHN: Concerto for Violin, Piano, and Strings in d minor PROKOFIEV: Classical Symphony, Op. 25
Acclaimed Seattle musicians Maria Larionoff (violin) and Robin McCabe (piano) join Philharmonia Northwest for their 2013-2014 season opening concert in Felix Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin, Piano and Strings in d minor. McCabe is a long-time faculty member of the University of Washington and co-founder of the Seattle Piano Institute. Larianoff is the former concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony and founder of the American String Project. The program will also include Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture and Prokofiev's virtuosic Classical Symphony, op. 25.
