The Lugoff-Elgin High School 2019 Madrigal Dinner
On the nights of December 6th and 7th the diverse talents of Lugoff-Elgin High School will host their fifth annual Madrigal Dinner, recreating the regal elegance of the Renaissance past through costumes, feast and pageantry. Between 1350 and 1600 the Western world was transformed. An extraordinary wave of artistic and cultural innovation shattered medieval society and brought European culture reluctantly into the modern era. This wave, The Renaissance (the Rebirth) was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life.
The LEHS Madrigal Dinner is a comedy, play, concert, all in one. While you are entertained by our talented students you will be served a multi-course meal throughout the night starting with a select chamber ensemble from our band to entertain the guests while they are seated. The meal begins with a beverage, bread, salad, then soup. Next is the main course following "The Boar's Head Carol." Finally, the dessert is served with coffee or milk. As the story culminates to an end, the guests are treated to a short concert.
