Living Music :: Martha's Vineyard

Daykah (Dean & Karin Rosenthal) perform a concert of music by living composers on Martha's Vineyard! The island of Martha's Vineyard has numerous classical music series, but composers of living culture are alive and well and are often omitted or given second billing. We seek to offer this living culture to the island by presenting a concert of musical works composed by noted living composers, some commissioned and to be premiered at the concert. Come join us at Sally Cohn's beautiful performance space in Edgartown!
Daykah is Dean and Karin Rosenthal. A creative duo that has primarily focused on playing the music of living composers, they have performed around the Northeast, including performances in NYC at Spectrum as well as in Los Angeles at the Wulf. They have contributed work to an homage of George Brecht's Water Yam for the British arts organization Compost and Height and online text score collections. They have performed and recorded Dean's "Stones/Water/Time/Breath" in numerous locations. A recording of a joint effort of that piece will included on a forthcoming release on the label Edition Wandelweiser this fall.
This concert is supported by the Martha's Vineyard Cultural Council. We thank them and Sally Cohn for allowing us to put to use her beautiful space for the purpose of contemporary musical arts.
