Can't Stop the Serenity 2013
Can't Stop the Serenity, an event featuring an exclusive screening of the 2005 movie Serenity, starring Nathan Fillion of ABC's hit series "Castle," and directed by Joss Whedon of The Avengers fame, is being held by the Chicagoland BrowncoatsChicago chicagolandbrowncoats.com to benefit Equality Now and House of the Good Shepherd.
The screening is Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at the historic Genesee Theatre, 203 N Genesee St, Waukegan, IL, (847) 782-2366, http://www.geneseetheatre.com/events/detail/cant-stop-the-serenity-2013. Doors open at 5 pm, Dr. Horrible will start around 6pm, Serenity will start at 8pm. Tickets are $15 for regular and $50 for the VIP package. Tickets will also be available the night of the event, but only a portion of those proceeds will go to the charity event, so we highly encourage you to please purchase your tickets ahead of time.
In addition to Serenity (http://www.serenitymovie.com/) and Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, the evening's entertainment will feature Auctions both Silent and Live, and a Costume Contest.
Equality Now (http://www.equalitynow.org/english/index.html) is a global organization that works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world. 75% of the proceeds from this event will go to Equality Now.
House of the Good Shepherd (http://www.hgschicago.org/) is a Chicago-area residential domestic violence recovery program for women and their children that provides programs and support to end the cycle of domestic violence. 25% of the proceeds will go to House of the Good Shepherd.
