Jason Ricci & the Bad Kind features Blues Harmonica Virtuoso, Songwriter & Band Leader Jason Ricci on vocals and harmonica with the Bad Kind, known for their very own brand of New Orleans-based blues/funk/jazz/rock/bayou punch across the map. Long-time BK member and NOLA-based funk lead guitarist John Lisi, among other extraordinary talent, gives every BK show an edge with a whole lot of soul. Kaitlin Dibble joins them on select smooth vocals and harmonies. Ricci often has been called by critics and blues music colleagues alike, the "Best Modern Blues Harmonica performer of his generation" - iconic; eclectic; and wildly innovative whether performing in venues small or large, or with other highly revered musicians on major Blues Festival stages across the USA and in Europe. Jason is a multiple award winner (and nominee from 2006-2017) in the most prestigious Blues Events known, including the 2017 Bernie Bray SPAH Award  "World's Best Harmonica Player" - (an honor voted on by his peers) and he's a two-time Blues Music Award (BMA) Winner for Best Blues Instrumentalist for Harmonica (2010 & 2018), being nominated multiple times since 2007. He was a Featured Performer playing Paul Butterfield's powerful harp piece "Born in Chicago" on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame stage, in 2015, when The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Ricci also got the invite as Featured Harmonica Performer on Johnny Winter's Grammy-Award Winning Best Blues Album, "Step Back" recorded in 2014, winning the Grammy in 2015. Jason's first major national win for his harmonica chops came when he was just 21 years old and that trend continues to this day.  When not regularly touring, Jason is active as an esteemed harmonica teacher, via private Skype lessons, as his time allows. His commitment to education on his instrument of choice is highly regarded in Blues circles. He's a co-founding member of the Annual Harmonica Collective, offering Master Classes each year with intensive group sessions led by the country's most celebrated harmonica players. He's known also as an innovator in the design of custom harmonicas, microphones, pedals, and other gear, with such companies as Lone Wolf Blues Company, Blue Moon Harmonicas and others. His latest CD, "My Chops are Rolling" was just released (EllerSoul Records) in July 2019, and showcases Jason Ricci's unmatched technical prowess and creative energy as an all-around premier harmonica legend and innovative songwriter. He often builds on his early recordings, still known to have revolutionized Modern Blues Harmonica.  More recent recordings also include "Approved by Snakes" (2017) including the Bad Kind line-up.  Other recent discs include Jason's acoustic projects, recorded with singer/guitarist and acoustic blues/roots/rocker JJ Appleton (2015 and 2018) - "Dirty Memory" and "Beautiful Slop" - both critically acclaimed and  cross-genre crowd favorites on the Blues Festival circuit.  Jason Ricci & the Bad Kind tour-schedule takes them to both the hottest blues clubs & traditional venues nationally; crossing all the boundaries with Ricci's unconventional and highly accomplished mix of genres for modern harmonica. There's nothing like hearing Jason Ricci perform - though deeply informed by classical, rock, jazz, funk, and punk - plus all the early Blues originals of the Delta, and the greats of Chicago and Memphis, Jason Ricci is one-of-a-kind... and defies any one label. You have to see him to believe it. This show brought to you by Black Kat Productions, LLC  (jaa 2019)

The Geneseo Riviera with Headliner Jason Ricci is also proud to host the Opening Act, Genesee Johnny Band, a Rochester-based group of seasoned musicians - featuring Band Leader Genesee Johnny on lead vocals and guitars; Timothy Brinduse on harmonica, vocals and harmonies; Bret Wadams on drums; and Dan Lopata on bass. The GJ Band has been a staple in blues and roots/rock circles around the region for several years and plays with such Rochester music notables as Blues Legend Joe Beard, David M. Miller, and as Host and House Band of the Son House Group, that celebrates the historical roots of Son House in Rochester, NY and helps promote blues music and blues players in the region. Their most recent CD, "HomeGrown" (2017) gained wide recognition for its unique 'home grown' high quality mix of originals and covers.  (jaa 2019)
