Walking in Dorothy Dandridge's Shoes...Her Final New Beginning!
Two Roads Theater
Studio City, CA
Share this event:

In her modest 1965 apartment, luxurious gowns, scripts and music everywhere, an exuberant Dorothy arrives home from a Carmen Jones memorial photo session and doctor's visit  and begins organizing, packing and practicing dances as she gets ready for the two films she is contracted to star in, and a line up of shows for this, her Final New Beginning.

During this show portraying a Dorothy , on the last full day of her life, you'll see a woman full of direction, hope  and with signed contracts for work. Dorothy enacts her life in timeline like fashion through dramatic monologues, dancing, 7 original songs with the piano accompinament playing throughout to add to the dramatic, funny and informative parts of the production. The production also has added visual affects portraying some of the people Dorothy speaks to and of frequently.
The production draws the audience back to reality when an unresponsive Dorothy after drifting off to sleep, rises in a dancing floaty, dreamy type movement and voice as she disappears from the stage while singing and dancing the finale.
(Free Red Carpet photos before the show. After the performance, audience members are welcomed to join the artist(s) across the street at Vitello's for snacks and libations!)
