The Strand Consort: Bach and Brahms motets
The Strand Consort is a dynamic group of young, London-based professional singers, with an energetic approach to choral works. The Consort has gained an impressive following since its inception, and is fast becoming a group to watch on the London choral circuit. Each project is a result of bids from members of the group, affording its singers the freedom to collaborate with like-minded musicians on the music that they love.
The Consort was originally formed from a core group of ex-choral scholars of the Choir of Kings College London. Whilst retaining Kings at its heartnot least through the Consorts primary conductor, Joseph Fortthe choir is now working from a pool of talented musicians from a wide array of backgrounds and institutions. Upcoming projects include a diverse range of repertoire, from an intimate one-per-part Renaissance polyphony programme, to an exciting UK choral premiere. On 13th December, The Consort will make its debut performance at St John's Smith Square, in a joint Advent programme with The Choir of King's College London.
The Strand Consort looks forward to sharing a programme of motets by Bach and Brahms at St Nicolas Church, Cranleigh, on 17th August at 5pm. The concert marks the debut of the choirs new Associate Director, James Orford, who is the current Organ Scholar at St Paul's Cathedral. Tickets are £10/£5 for students and are available online and on the door.
