Dot Jazz: Revolutionary Snake Ensemble
Greater Ashmont Main Street and Mandorla Music Series are very pleased to co-present the 2019-2020 Dot Jazz Series at Peabody Hall in the Parish of All Saints Ashmont. Dot Jazz will take place on the second Thursday of the month from September 2019 until May 2020, with the exception of April when we'll be on the third Thursday. Doors will open at 7pm.
Our April concert will feature the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble. Led by saxophonist and composer Ken Field, the RSE is a costumed funk/street beat improvisational brass band performing a unique blend of original and traditional music inspired by the second line brass bands of New Orleans parades.
"They've pretty much modernized the traditional concept, and they've spun it into a singular sound that's very unique and very vibrant. They accelerated the norm. They went past the tried and true. They managed to do it all with a very distinct musical persona." - NPR's Morning Edition/Glenn Astarita
"Sly funky tuneful avant garde jazz." - New York Music Daily
