Independents' Film Festival Indie Music
First time Director, Zenda has created an indie rockumentary film about the state of the music industry. It features live performances and artist interviews with Clare Muldaur, Nicole Nelson, the Dwight Ritcher Band, Pie Boys Flat, Jess Furman, and Liz Queler, shot at The Bitter End and The Cutting Room in New York City. The musicians introduced in the film include: Clare Muldaur, who has been described as having something of the vocal style of Rickie Lee Jones with the wearily witty lyrical sensibility of Tom Waits. Nicole Nelson, who possesses a natural voice that caresses like honey and burns like a blaze. The Dwight Ritcher Band, whose new release, "Radioman," is stirring up major label interest, and getting heavy college/alt radio spins. Pie Boys Flat, whose music is steeped in rootsy, southern grooves and rich, soaring vocals; they are regulars on the college circuit and the NY indie scene. Jess Furman who has been tearing up the stage for years from the sidewalks of suburbia to New York City curbs and venues such as CBGBs Gallery, The Cutting Room, The Bitter End and Arlenes Grocery and Liz Queler who has won songwriting awards from Billboard and the National Academy of Popular Music. A singers' singer, Liz subsidizes her creative endeavors by singing and composing for TV and film scores including Disney's "The Little Mermaid. Each and every night of the week, countless singer/songwriter/musicians perform in local venues in and around New York City. Wheres the Music At? inquires, with record label deals few and far between, and ever-expanding and user-friendly media technologies, will artists ultimately have total control over their careers?
