Sphere Ensemble is a 14 member string ensemble that performs a signature mix of styles, including string orchestra masterworks, transcriptions of classical masterpieces originally for other instruments, and inventive and original arrangements of outstanding pop music written by current and past group members that you cannot hear anywhere else!
Join Sphere Ensemble at the beautiful Studios at Overland Crossing in Denver for a truly memorable evening. Throughout the evening, we will play three sets of music where our innovative programming will be on full display. Musical selections will include three ambitious new arrangements, including Bach's Chaconne and Queen's" Bohemian Rhapsody." Works by Gershwin, Schumann, Daft Punk, Berlioz, Mumford and Sons, Bartok, and more round out the program.
In between sets, enjoy mingling with members of Sphere, some delicious food, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options will be available), and a silent auction featuring wares generously donated by many local businesses.
If you were present for our April 2018 Have a Ball with Sphere event, you helped us put together a really impactful 2018-2019 season that truly highlights the three branches of our mission: "Engaging diverse communities through innovative programming, education, and outreach." Our accomplishments include:
-Four concerts in Denver, Boulder, and Westcliffe;
-Premieres of nine new arrangements: including works by Mozart, Queen, The Beatles, and Prince;
-Seven free outreach events: performance for the residents and staff of Brookside Inn Skilled Nursing Facility in Castle Rock, an educational workshop with the youth of El Sistema Colorado in Denver, an interactive performance with the youth, staff, and allies of Rainbow Alley, and LGBTQ+ safe space in Denver, two in-school performances at Custer County School in Westcliffe, and performances at Denver Children's Hospital and Anschutz Cancer Center are scheduled for June 1st.
With your support, we hope to accomplish even more during our 2019-2020 season, giving more concerts, further expanding our outreach performances, continuing to write cutting-edge new arrangements, and increasing pay to our hard-working musicians!
