Special Fun was the quintessential Santa Cruz worldbeat party band in the 1980s. Gary Regina, Daniel Lewis, Gary Kehoe, Bob Von Elgg, Michael Horne, and Renato Annicchiarico performed up and down the California coast, released four recordings and built a dedicated following over a 5 year run, performing with Spyro Gyra, Billy Ocean, Zulu Spear, Big City, Steel Pulse and many more. Some of the members reformed in 2002 as SOLCIRCLE playing with String Cheese Incident and releasing Solcircle and Live at Monterey Jazz Festival
