SUGAR RAY NORCIA & DUKE ROBILLARD TRIO IN NEWTON MARCH 16 at 8 PM
A rare treat to hear electric guitar wizard Duke Robillard in an intimate acoustic setting sharing the stage with harmonica master Sugar Ray Norcia and bassist Brad Hallen.

This is the second in a series of concerts at the Luckart Gallery this spring presented by Paul Rishell & Annie Raines in collaboration with neighboring Boccabella's restaurant. A light fare menu and full bar service will be available during the concert. A full dinner menu is available next door at the restaurant. (Dinner reservations are strongly suggested as restaurant seating is limited).

The Luckart Gallery and Boccabella's are located at 438 Lexington Street in Auburndale center. There is abundant parking in the lot across the street. Wheelchair access is unfortunately limited. Admission is $25 / $20 students and seniors. For more information, visit www.paulandannie.com for directions, performer links, and advance tickets. For dinner reservations call (617) 928-1200.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Three time Grammy nominated Sugar Ray Norcia has received a total of twenty two Blues Music Award nominations including winning two Blues Music Awards in 2014.  Sugar Ray has been on over sixty recordings with the likes of Roomful of Blues, J. Geils, Michelle Willson, Otis Grand, and Pinetop Perkins, and he is a featured vocalist on the two critically acclaimed Knickerbocker All-Stars recordings. In 2016 Sugar Ray and his band The Bluetones released a CD on Severn Records called "Seeing Is Believing". For that CD Sugar Ray was nominated for an unprecedented seven 2017 Blues Music Awards including Traditional Blues Male Artist and B.B. King Entertainer of the year.

Duke Robillard has carved out one of blues' most illustrious legacies as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, bandleader, studio sideman, producer, label operator and educator. After showing an early affinity for music and guitar, he founded Roomful Of Blues with pianist Al Copley in Westerly, R.I., in 1967. By adding horns, Roomful announced itself emphatically as the prototypical jump blues band, and became a New England legend and a fixture beyond, as did Duke himself. His unsurpassed mastery of the guitar style of T-Bone Walker (later crystallized memorably in his 2004 release "Blue Mood") was deservedly heralded, but his musical breadth is also head-turning - from swing, standards and ballads to rockers, gutbucket Chicago blues and rockabilly.

Duke's resume is decorated with Grammy nominations, Handy Awards and Blues Music Awards, and other honors for his artistry, recordings and productions within the United States and internationally. On his latest release, "Duke Robillard and his Dames of Rhythm" on M.C. Records, he wields an acoustic archtop and joins six thrushes for evocative and enjoyable renditions of 1920s and 1930s swing tunes; it's a worthy successor to his 2016 BMA-winning "The Acoustic Blues And Roots Of Duke Robillard."

Brad Hallen hails from Boston, Mass and is an accomplished Acoustic and Electric bassist. He has toured and recorded with Aimee Mann, Monster Mike Welch (Just Like It Is) and Susan Tedeschi; after two years of working with Susan, Brad became a member of the legendary Roomful of Blues. For 5 years he toured the world with them and made two records for Alligator including the Grammy nominated That's Right. During that time he also recorded with Johnny Winter (I'm a Bluesman). After his tenure with Roomful, Brad hooked up with Duke Robillard and has been in his touring and recording band for the last 7 years. Brad has made 6 records with Duke as a leader and countless records that Duke has produced.
