An Exclusive Fundraiser for Ballroom Basix

Ben Nordstrom and Steve Neale will present an intimate evening of pop, musical theatre, and songbook standards in the beautiful home of Kurt and Andrea Kallaus. This is an exclusive, invitation-only fundraiser event for lovers of theatre, music, and dancing.

January 5, 2019 - 7PM Cocktails - 8PM Show

Tickets: $30 - Your ticket includes a selection of red and white wines and light hors d' oeuvres. All proceeds will go to benefit Ballroom Basix.

BALLROOM BASIX (BBX) is a NON-compettive, arts-in-education initiative, headquartered in New York City, that utilizes the etiquette and aducation of NON-competitive Ballroom & Latin dancing to contribute to schoolchildren's social, enotional and physical learning.. By reinforcing the poise and politeness inherent in partner dance, this powerful programming instills confidence, camaraderie and cooperation among classmates. Launched by championship tango dancer Sidney Grant in a single Harlem school, BALLROOM BASIX and its "fun, fitness & fancy footwork" has touched the young lives of over 15,000 students in more than 75 NYC schools.

We are proud to announce that this innovative arts initiative will be rolled out in multiple St. Louis school districts in 2019!

Sidney Grant currently lives in New York where he continues as Founder/Artistic Director of BALLROOM BASIX, teaches, emcee's national events and performs. He has worked in film and television for several decades. His innovative choreography for school children was featured alongside Antonio Banderas to promote the film "Take the Lead" on The Today Show. He both taught and danced with Julia Roberts and her cast in the hit film "Mona Lisa Smile".  Academy and Tony award winner, Marcia Gay harden, is the Honorary Chairwoman for BBIX.

Ben Nordstrom is an award-winning actor and singer in St. Louis. Recently, he has been seen at the Rep (Evita, Hamlet, A Christmas Carol, Macbeth, [title of show], Urinetown), Shakespeare Festival St. Louis (Into the Breeches), The Muny (Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!, Billy Elliot), Arrow Rock Lyceum (Million Dollar Quartet), and at Stages (How To Succeed, Promises, Promises), as well as work at Mustard Seed, Variety, HotCity, OnSite and Echo Theatre Company. His regional credits include Berkshire Theatre Group, Alley Theatre, Cleveland Play House, Great Lakes Theater Festival, Arvada Center and Theatre Raleigh. Ben is the recipient of two Kevin Kline Awards and a St. Louis Theater Circle Award. He holds a BFA from Webster University and is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA. He is proud of and grateful for his St. Louis theatre family.

Steve Neale is an award-winning composer, conductor, vocalist and pianist. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, he is a much sought-after session player around town. In addition to playing piano, Steve is the music director of the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundations Teen Talent Competition at the Fox Theatre. He has music directed countless shows in the region and in New England and composes and produces original music for film, theater and radio including KMOX in St. Louis and WTMJ in Milwaukee. Steve conducts the St. Margaret of Scotland parish choir and teaches music at Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School. He was most recently the interim artistic director of the Gateway Mens Chorus. He sings bass with the Celtic vocal group The Wee Heavies.
