Charlie Mosbrook concert for Pilgrim sanctuary family
Charlie Mosbrook Benefit Concert for Sanctuary Sunday, Nov. 25 * 3pm * $15 sliding scale A benefit for Pilgrim's sanctuary family
What: A benefit concert for Pilgrims sanctuary family with award-winning songwriter Charlie Mosbrook.
Charlie Mosbrooks 2018 release is a collection of topical songs including the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest 2nd place winner Remember Who We Are.
In the spirit of Guthrie, Mosbrook assembles a collection of songs that remind us of who we are and where our world is today. The album includes the emotional Abandoned Big Box Store, inspired by the family separation policy, asking what we would do if these children were our own. While the subject matter is very serious, some of the songs, like The Battle of Topeka, are whimsical parodies of our political climate. Mosbrook's commitment to the preservation of traditional music is reflected in his spirited rendition of the gospel hymn and civil rights anthem I Shall Not Be Moved.
Subtle arrangements highlight the musical performance featuring guitar, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, and vocals. Mosbrook performs these songs with a flatpicking technique reminiscent of Woody and the Carter Family. His distinctive baritone voice reinforces his story telling with a sense of wisdom, compassion, and sarcasm.
