Keyz & Stix
Ezra Charles, Houston's most celebrated pianist, and Jake Helpinstill, his favorite drummer, have teamed up to become a two-man band, Keyz & Stix. In this show they play the songs Ezra wrote over the course of his long career. Ezra's amusing stories reveal the sources and inspirations that helped him create an impressive body of work that documents the Texas Gulf Coast lifestyle. Their performance of that material alternates between sensitive, bluesy ballads, and full-blown, piano-pounding rock and roll. The complete evening of entertainment lasts about two hours, with a fifteen-minute intermission.
