88.1 KDHX Presents Twangfest 17, June 5-8 in St. Louis, MO.
On Wednesday, June 5, Twangfest 17 kicks off at Plush, with the ever-provocative, always-entertaining songwriting and storytelling of Todd Snider. A counter-cultural artist in search of a counter-culture, Snider has amassed an extraordinary body of songs that reflects the world as seen through his witty, sardonic but sweet vision. Snider will be appearing in a trio format, with drums and violin to expand his loose and twangy style. Joining Snider at Plush is the legendary Texas songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard. From his early days in the outlaw movement to his current stature as poet laureate of grit 'n' groove, Hubbard continues to release masterful album after album, each deeper lyrically and bluesier musically than the one before. Opening the festivities on June 5 at Plush is local roots trio Stickley & Canan.
