Chasing Ice Bainbridge Island Premier - 10 AM Screening
Coates Design Architects is hosting two screenings of the documentary Chasing Ice - 10 am and 2 pm on April 20th. This movie is currently only available for limited release. It will be an integral part of Earth Day celebrations on Bainbridge Island. Screenings will occur at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Auditorium. Matthew Coates, president Coates Design and Eric Steig, climate control scientist from UW, will be on hand at both events to provide unique insights.
Matthew Coates is the president of Coates Design Architects. Eight years ago Matthew won the Cradle to Cradle International sustainable design completion and used the momentum from this achievement to open a practice devoted to deep green, elegant design. Matthew designed the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, targeted to be one of the first LEED Gold museums in Washington State.
Eric Steig teaches environmental earth science, isotope geochemistry and paleoclimatology at the University of Washington. He is acquainted with most of the scientists in Chasing Ice. Eric is a dynamic and engaging speaker who makes complex concepts understandable. He is the founding co-director of ISOLAB, a state-of-the art isotope geochemistry facility involving research ranging from climate and atmospheric chemistry to geobiology.
