Jesse Tatum & Tara Khozein in Performance
Flutist Jesse Tatum and vocalist Tara Khozein join forces for a performance of new compositions in form & concepts atrium. The New Mexico-based artists met while performing in Meow Wolfs House of Eternal Return art installation in summer of 2017. They carried the colorful, experimental energy of that project into a new collaboration, weaving together woodwinds and vocals, music and theater. We trade off being accompaniment to each other, says Khozein. We are two melodic-slash-percussive wind instruments in conversation.
The program explores the new and blooming repertoire for soprano and flute.
Program: Kate Soper, Alber Roussel, Kaija Saariaho, Cherise Leiter, Tara Khozein, Louis Sauter

WHY PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN? 1. Art should be available. Art should be cheap. Art should be accessible. Art should be for everyone, regardless of income. 2. Art should be lucrative for the artist. Artists should be paid for their time. Artists should not struggle to cover basic living expenses. 3. Inequality is a problem that is only exacerbated by our reluctance to talk about money and class. This is a chance to start that conversation. 4. The New Prairie School is about an hour and a half long. I ask that you give us one hours worth of income. If you make minimum wage in the city of Chicago, that is $10.50. If you make a salary of $50,000/year, thats $24.00. a. This is not a hard and fast rule. b. For instance, a single parent with two children making $50,000/year is clearly in a different situation than someone making the same salary without kids. c. Please evaluate your own situation. Please do not be afraid to pay $5.00. Please do not be afraid to pay $30.00.
