The Chicago Music Association presents JAZZIN' at THE SHORE, an afternoon of smooth and sophisticated jazz featuring Chicago's own Dee Alexander. Dee Alexander is among the premier vocalists and songwriters in American music today, and one of Chicago's most gifted and respected artists. Her performances span virtually every music genre related to the African diaspora: gospel, blues, neo-soul, rhythm-and-blues, and world music, but her true heart belongs to jazz, the one idiom that can encompass all her influences.
Also appearing will be Thaddeus Tukes vibraphonist. Tukes, a Northwestern University graduate and 2015 Luminarts Jazz Fellow, has appeared with a variety of jazz artists, including Branford Marsalis and Roy Hargrove.
Steel pan performers, The Kaisoul Trio, will also perform.
This concert is presented in partnership with the Advisory Council of South Shore Cultural Center and the Chicago Park District.
