"earth.sky" - Stories from Mount Auburn Cemetery
Mount Auburn Cemeterys inaugural Artist-in-Residence Roberto Mighty will present his original film earth.sky, an immersive meditation on the life cycle, culture, history, and nature. The film incorporates sights, sounds and stories from the 174-acre cemetery, including portraits of 19th-century African-American sculptor Mary Edmonia Lewis, animal rights advocates George Thorndike Angell and Emily Appleton, and Jewish-American author Bernard Malamud. Also featured are interviews with surviving family members of individuals buried at this National Historic Landmark. Discussion with the filmmaker will follow screening of the 45-minute film. This program is made possible with funding from the Lowell Institute. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, registration requested at http://osmhjuly25-18.bpt.me
