Matthew Fries is the newest member of Western Michigan Universitys jazz faculty. Winner of the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, he has over 20 years of performing experience in New York City and relocated here to Kalamazoo to join the WMU faculty last fall.
Phil Palombi is a Grammy-award winning bassist and is the author of "Scott LaFaro 15 Solo Transcriptions," the first book of LaFaro solos ever published.
Matthew and Phil are long-time collaborators and have extensive touring and performing experience with some of the most important names in the jazz scene. This Spring 2018 KBR Session is a live duo recording, and is a chance to hear two world-class jazz musicians performing in an intimate listening space.
