Run Across Cuba Documentary
Run Across Cuba follows Cuban-born professor and ultra-marathoner Alexis Garcia as he runs more than 1000 miles from the eastern most tip to the western most end of Cuba. As he runs across the island his wife Marlene Garcia also a professor interviews countless Cubans currently living on the island while also giving away 100's of pairs of sneakers to children along the way. Travel with them as Alexis runs 30 miles a day, covering the entire length of the country he fled more than 25 years ago on a kayak. This epic journey is an intimate documentary about hope, freedom, overcoming obstacles and reconnecting with the people and the land of Cuba.
After the screening, stay for a Q&A with Alexis Garcia and the films director, his wife Marlene Guerra GarcĂa.
Bio: Alexis and Marlene Garcia are Miami Dade County Public School employees. They are also ultra-runners who always try to benefit children in all of their events.
