Glenn Morrow's Cry for Help / Petey & the True Mongrel Hearts
NYC/NJ Rock n' Roll mainstay Glenn Morrow, and his Cry for Help, are masters of the kind of street smart, noir-tinged music that transformed the NYC scene in the 1970s, with tightrope-walking guitars over drummer Ron Metz's propulsive beat. There's dark hooks aplenty, delivered with a wry, cool attitude that evokes the spirit of the greatest stripped-down Rock n' Roll.
Meanwhile, veteran NYC/NJ singer-songwriter and frontman Pete Cenedella's newest band, the True Mongrel Hearts, dives with abandon into the place where Rock n' Roll and vintage Soul meet up. The blazing, beautiful lead guitar of Graham Norwood takes Pete's soulful songs to a new level, while drummer Tommy DeVito, bassist Ed Iglewski, and harmony singers Lisa Zwier, Erica Smith, and Tom Lucas help create a lush, driving sound.
This BYOB event will feature full sets from both bands, free birthday cake and ice cream, Lisa & Petey's Rock n' Soul jukebox between bands, and the after-gig debut of the Rock n' Wraparound Porch, where all in attendance are invited to hang out and where some intimate acoustic playing from Graham Norwood and others may well break out!
