Portland's 2nd Moonrise Film Festival
On April 25th, 2008, join us for an evening of Filipino cuisine and film. Learn about the issues facing rural farmers, indigenous groups, and gain a sense of the history of one of the largest archipelagos on Earth. With over 7,000 islands, 3% forest cover, and high rates of endemism, the Philippines is considered one of the world's top five "Biodiversity Hotspots."
Dinner will be served from 6-7:30pm and be paired with a slide show and discussion of in-progress renewable energy related water and electricity projects. The feature film "Batad" will begin at 7:30pm.
Tickets for the dinner and feature film are available through Green Empowerment: $25 for singles, $40/couple, and $60/families of four or more.
On Saturday, April 26th, the MOONRISE FilmFest continues with documentary environmental/cultural films during the 4-6pm matinee ($5) and the 7-9pm evening program ($7). Proceeds from this event will go to Green Empowerment's partners in the Philippines and to CEAE.
All proceeds will benefit the delivery of potable water, watershed restoration, and renewable energy based electricity and lighting in rural agrarian villages throughout the country.
