For Capital District Jazz's second installment of Spring Jazz at the Arts Center we are lucky to get Brian Patneaude, one of the busiest and most creative musicians in the region. He has collaborated with jazz luminaries in a wide range of clubs, concert halls and festivals nationally. On May 30th the tenor saxophonist's powerful sound will be complimented by the fiery guitar-work of long time collaborator George Muscatello, the propulsive bass of Otto Gardner and the Swiss-watch precision of drummer Danny Welchel.
Patneaude, perennial winner of "Best Local Jazz Artist" in area polls, reunites three quarters of a quartet that was in residence Sunday nights at the late Albany jazz club Justins from 2002 through 2010. The program will feature Patneaude's compositions, revisiting some of the old favorites from the Justins era and interpretations of his newer compositions. Please join us for a rare opportunity to hear this stellar quartet, in what promises to be a special night of music.
Yep, Up Jumps Spring, at the Arts Center in Troy!
"Flaunting a burly tone and a depth of feeling in his lines, Patneaude reflects the influence of Michael Brecker in both his playing and composing." --Bill Milkowski, JazzTimes Magazine
