Experience Join the ladies of the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter (GCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for the Sweets and Sounds 2018 event featuring great music, spoken word, sweet treats, and more. Enjoy this celebration of the arts in an atmosphere where you can mingle, relax, and party with friends while making new ones. And, this party has a purpose.
Purpose This event is presented in partnership with our Fortitude Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to partner with GCAC in the implementation of its service-oriented community projects and programs. Proceeds will support our scholarship programs designed to assist deserving college bound students in their academic pursuits. In addition, guests are asked to bring a book, music CD, or art supplies for children aged 3-16. These items will be donated to The Partnership Against Domestic Violence padv.org and Sheltering Arms shelteringarmsforkids.com. Audience The Sweets and Sounds event is tailored to appeal to professionals with an appreciation for African-American culture and entertainment. The attendees cover a wide range of ages, with a concentration between 3050. Expect to find successful, intelligent, and entrepreneurial leaders dressed in summer chic attire amongst this crowd.
Venue The event will be held at the Millennium Gate Museum (The Gate) located in the Atlantic Station district of Midtown in Atlanta, GA. The Gates mission is to preserve and interpret Georgia history, art, culture and philanthropic heritage. The classically styled monumental arch houses a 12,000 square foot museum that narrates Georgias history through sophisticated interactive technology, film, period rooms, and exhibitions. Guests at the Sweets and Sounds event enjoy full access to the museum exhibits.
Presenters Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization of college educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community. The sorority uses its Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement to create its national programs. GCAC of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. promotes exemplary public service by implementing initiatives and programs in our local communities that parallel the sorority's thrust and social action focus.
