Ottawa's St. Patrick's Day Concert
Join us for a lively St. Patricks Day celebration, featuring some of Ottawas finest Celtic musicians, including the Trousers, Hibernia, MacIsaac and MacKenzie, and Kyle Burghout and Tyson Chen.
All ages welcome. Cash bar.
The Trousers are a dynamic duo that showcase music from their roots. Seasoned multi-instrumentalists Karson McKeown and Ross Davison are sure to have audiences unable to resist nodding and tapping their toes along to the beat of unique arrangements consisting of traditional Irish, Scottish, and Cape Breton tunes. The Trousers are currently working on their first full-length album.
Hibernia features Ellen MacIsaac and Susan Toman, a duo of Celtic voice and harp, specializing in the repertoire of Ireland and Scotland, in Gaelic and in English. Their debut album, Wide Waters, was launched in November 2017 to critical acclaim.
Alexis MacIsaac and Calum MacKenzie are a wife and husband duo who have established a unique musical partnership that combines Calums Cape Breton piano playing with Alexis modern approach to Celtic fiddle. Their debut album, The Bay Street Sessions, was nominated for a 2016 Canadian Folk music Award for traditional instrumental group of the year and a 2017 East Coast Music Award for roots album of the year.
Having performed across Canada, the USA, Ireland, Italy, Austria, and Hungary, Kyle Burghout has established himself as one of Canadas best young fiddlers. Kyle and his music have been featured on CBC radio and television, as well as in Irish Music Magazine and The Canadian Fiddler. In September 2017, Kyle released his first solo album, The Prism Within, featuring both traditional tunes and many of his own compositions. He has also recorded an EP with trio Branches of Silver in 2015, featuring compositions by traditional fiddlers from Canada, the USA, and abroad.
Tyson Chen currently plays an eclectic mix of musical styles including Celtic, popular, classical, and jazz. He complements his performances by teaching workshops and private lessons with a focus on Cape Breton piano accompaniment. Audiences, musicians, and students are drawn to his vibrant piano performances, engaging personality, and professionalism.
