Berks Country Fest Storytellers Evening: The Waters of the Glacier
Doors open at 6:30pm Show from 7pm to 8:30pm
The 2018 installment of Berks Country Fest's popular Storyteller Series, continues with The Waters of Glacier, a brand new multimedia show of music, never before presented to the public, written by Jill Haley when she lived in Glacier National Park, Montana, for one month, with a video of the images that inspired the music. The music is written for oboe, English horn, piano, and guitar, and she will be accompanied by David Cullen and Sue McDevitt. Throughout the session Jill will share the story of how her inspirations in nature translated into photography, music and video.
It rained and snowed for most of the time Jill spent in the Park, so much of the music was inspired by either falling water or the amazing lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. Video of the images that inspired the music will accompany the performance providing the listener for a chance to visit Glacier National Park aurally and visually for an evening as they sit back, relax and enjoy the show in the historic Connor Auditorium at Berks History Center.
According to Jill Haley, "Back in October, when I arrived at the park at the beginning of the month, the staff assured me that it would stop raining. It stopped for about 2 days out of the month. Instead of getting upset about it, I decided to take what the park was giving me, which was lots of water, and see what would result musically. It ended up being an awesome experience that I am looking forward to sharing during the storytelling session. I love water and this project feels very special to me."
