Dance Visions NY will present inspiring dances from their repertory in celebration of the Spring season, a time of hope and renewal. Repertory includes dances of Isadora Duncan and original works of Beth Jucovy at the newly renovated, fully equipped theater of North Shore Towers.
Original Jucovy works include "Landscapes," a classical mood-piece set to Spanish guitar music, which is being fully revived for this program, and "Shades of Blue" an expression of the great Blues song, "St. Louis Woman." Also featured is "Through the Portals", a dance created in collaboration with visual artist Susan Ruth Cohen with shifting artwork projected as the backdrop. Rejuvenation is an invigorating work set to Peruvian flute music of Leo Rojas, and a violin concerto of JS Bach.
Isadora Duncan classics include the authentic repertory to music of Strauss, Chopin, Brahms, and Gluck. With nine celebrated company dancers, vocalist Daisy Korman and host/narrator Shirley Romaine.
Dancers: Danielle Atkinson, Louisa Cathcart, Vanessa Ferranti, I-Nam Jiemvitayanukoon, Beth Jucovy, Hope Kroog, Laura Marciano, Rebekah Mulkey, Hyo-Jin Rim
Dance Visions NY, Inc. brings the Isadora Duncan artistic legacy into the present. Through presentations of the authentic Isadora Duncan works and through presentation of original works, influenced by Duncan principles, the company keeps the spirit and aesthetic of Isadora Duncan strong and relevant in today's world.
Dance Visions NY, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization since 2011, was originally founded by Ms. Jucovy in 1990 as Dance Visions. The company originally grew out of a group of innovative, versatile, professional dancers who began collaborating in 1989. Since that time, Ms. Jucovy has created a full repertory of original works and programs which have been presented at theaters, museums, centers, festivals, schools, universities, libraries and parks throughout NYC and the metropolitan area. The repertory focuses on works that express and explore our shared humanity, timeless themes as well as experience of our current times.
