By the Wayside (The Final Cut) - Film Screening
Join us for the premiere of Los Angeles underground director Michael Cuenca's FINAL CUT of his second feature film BY THE WAYSIDE.
"A definite affinity for the bebop style of the 1960s. [A film with] a large assortment of conversations, sometimes philosophical and sometimes wholly immature, all but free of narrative, but completely full of character." - Rogue Cinema
Previously screened in 2012 in a workprint version, and a revamped one that hit the festival circuit, this never-before-seen final version has been recut and colored for its 6th year anniversary.
STORY: Jim is a background actor hoping to make it into the big time. His roommate is Sam, a documentary filmmaker. When the two are evicted from their home they meet with homeless musician Dio and a Catholic virgin named Mars. The four descend into a life-awakening 24 hours that involve excess drinking, prostitutes, a sage-like lounge singer and psychedelic drugs.
