David Lindley
David Lindley is a Grammy nominated multi-instrumentalist and vocalist that redefines the word "eclectic." The majority of instruments Lindley has incorporated are string instruments, including the acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, electric lap steel guitar, Weissenborn, mandolin, fiddle, saz baglama, bouzouki, and oud . Known for his 40+ years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne as well as being the leader of his own band El Rayo-X, Lindley's performances effortlessly combines American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Spanish, Breton, Malagasy and Turkish, Armenian and Persian musical sources. Also known for his many contributions as a sideman, Lindley has contributed to recordings and live performances by Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder, Curtis Mayfield, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Crosby and Nash, Rod Stewart, Etta James, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton and Ben Harper, who has credited Lindley's slide guitar style as a major influence on his own playing. In 2011, he released a live album together with Jackson Browne entitled Love is Strange, which peaked at #46 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and at #1 on the Billboard Folk albums chart, while being nominated for a Grammy for best contemporary folk album.
