Boulder County AIDS Project World AIDS Day Concert
Boulder County AIDS Project (BCAP) joins local musicians from the Boulder area, to present a World AIDS Day musical program for the community on Sunday, December 3, 2017. The program will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 1421 Spruce Street in Boulder and begins at 2 P.M.(lasting 90 minutes without intermission). The theme of this year's event is "coming together in the spirit of community!"

Free parking will be available at First United Methodist Church on 15th between Spruce & Pine Streets. Additional free parking is available at the garage at 15th & Spruce Streets.

This year's World AIDS Day Concert will feature the Resonance Women's Chorus; and musicians Sandra Wong, Bill Douglas, Elle Wells, and Caitlin Strickland. The program has been designed by the musicians to offer rich, deep beauty, that holds the weights of the world.

World AIDS Day takes place on December 1 each year as an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first globally recognized health day. Now in its 29th year, people in the Boulder region will join together with hundreds of other World AIDS Day events across the globe.

Globally, there are an estimated 36.7 million people who have the virus. In 2017, one million people in the US are living with HIV, and 1 in 7 of them don't know it. In Colorado, there are over 15,000 people living with HIV with over 600 people in the Boulder region known to be living with HIV. Despite the medical community knowing more than ever about HIV, almost 40,000 people in the US are diagnosed with HIV each year. There is still a basic lack of knowledge about HIV for many, and associated stigma and discrimination remains a reality for many people living with HIV.

The mission of the Boulder County AIDS Project is to provide support, advocacy and education to those in our community who are living with or affected by HIV, and to serve as an outreach and information center to prevent the further transmission of HIV.
