Heritage Festival is a yearly event for Folk Dancers in the Bay Area and beyond hosted by the Peninsula Folk Dance Council and the Folk Dance Federation of California, North. This year we are focused on all things Serbian.
On Friday night, January 19th at the Garden House, Shoup Park, 400 University Avenue, Los Altos there will be a opening party (7- 10 pm) where local clubs will share their favorite dances.
Come join our workshop (1:30 -4:30 PM) Saturday January 20th at Twin Pines Community Center, Belmont to learn Serbian dances, from our joyful and enthusiastic teacher MIROSLAV 'Bata' MARCETIC who is the Academy of Serbian Folk Dance Director.
You can then eat dinner in town or order a wrap to enjoy with fellow dancers on site.
Stay for the party starts at 6:30 for the added treat of dancing with ORKESTAR SRMA, this year's live Serbian band who is passionate about their music. Ethnic dress is encouraged. There will be recorded international requests between sets
There will also be and exhibition Serbian youth group MLADOST FOLKLORE who will be showing us how to really dance Serbian dances!
All this fun ends at 10:30! Note: Children under 12 are free; youth 12-18 are $5/event at the door.
