Acres and Acres: Truth & Sky Album Release in St. John's w/ Naomi Kavka & Jeff Pittman
If you're a fan of the band, don't miss this show. If you've heard of the band but never heard them live, this is the show to see. The set will feature the band performing w/ a string quartet made up of St. John's finest and other special guests. The Rocket Room, above the Rocket Bakery is a beautiful venue with wonderful acoustics.

As a pop paragon, Naomi, a wide-eyed musical adventurer, boughs into noir-country and folk fuzz while flirting with a bit of blue-eyed soul and wisps of AM pop. Halifax's Acres and Acres present a second disc of laid back and lush chamber-folk, and a little chamber-country for your pleasure. The main men here are songwriters David Scholten and Kris Pope, the latter originally from Belleisle Creek, NB, while regular bass man Ian Sherwood is from nearby Norton. Half the eight songs here have a rich string section added in to dreamscape melodies, while the remaining numbers get more of a groove on. bolstered by pedal steel and some front-porch acoustic charm. Built around 1895, the building was a hardware store until its closure in 1989, when the building underwent a complete heritage restoration from 1998-2001, receiving a Southcott Award from The Newfoundland Historic Trust.
