As an addition to its chamber series, Arion presents Music Director Robert La Rue in a recital of works for solo cello by Bach, Kodaly, Ysaÿe, Egon Wellesz and Joan Tower.
Program: * Egon Wellesz: Sonata for Violoncello Solo, Op. 31 * J.S. Bach: Suite III in C Major, BWV 1009 * Joan Tower: Six Meditations for Solo Cello (1971) * Eugene Ysaÿe: Sonata for Violoncello Solo, Op. 28 * Zoltan Kodaly: Allegro molto vivace from Sonata, Op. 8, for Violoncello Solo
This concert can be purchased at a reduced price as an addition to "Arion Chamber Music 2017-2018 Season Subscription" before November 17th, 2017.
Robert La Rue was First Prize winner of the National Society of Arts and Letters Cello Competition, whose jury chairman was Mstislav Rostropovitch. A former member of the New England String Quartet and a current member of the New York CIty Opera Orchestra, he is the Music Director of the Arion Chamber Music series.
