Critters, Kittens, Wolf & Jupiter
An evening of diverse, eclectic, and rocking music!
Featuring:
Drone Wolf http://www.dronewolfpack.com/ Alternative/prog band from Durham/Toronto area. Their sound is atmospheric, often heavy, featuring a variety of influences with a strong prog flavour. The music is concise and very song-oriented, with the focus being more on composition and feel rather than odd-time signatures and intricate instrumental sections, which are used more sparingly. They are currently working on a new EP, scheduled to be out this summer (exact release date to be confirmed). Check out our review of their performance back in February here: http://progmatic.ca/blog/let-it-prog-progressive-winter/
Young Critters (Toronto debut appearance!) http://www.youngcritters.com/ From Montreal, Canada, Young Critters is a band that offers a distinct blend of modern rock with a subtle touch of funk. Their unique sound and stage energy are the result of various influences such as Jack White, The Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The four piece band of Shaun, Nic, Maïko and Patrick express their art through heavy-bluesy guitar riffs and catchy grooves. Each song presents an intriguing in-your-head-all-day vibe, making Young Critters a compelling musical experience. Having recently released their debut EP "Sedate Me", Young Critters will be playing in Toronto for the very first time at this event!
Jupiter Hollow https://www.jupiterhollow.ca/ https://jupiterhollow.bandcamp.com/ A progressive rock/metal duo from Barrie, ON - Jupiter Hollow consists of just two members, Grant MacKenzie (who also plays in Colony) and Kenny Parry (who sings in Colony and Chasing Shadows). The duo have played a large variety of shows and their debut EP "Odyssey" has gotten attention and coverage in many publications, including the Prog (UK) magazine, Highwired Daze, Hellbound.ca, SkullsNBones.com, Manic Mosh, Progression magazine, and many others. With the members being only in their late teens/early twenties, there are great prospects ahead for Jupiter Hollow. Their sound is reminiscent of bands such as Tool, A Perfect Circle, TesseracT, and features a variety of other influences as well, including Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson.
Run With the Kittens https://www.runwiththekittens.ca/ https://soundcloud.com/run-with-the-kittens Having been playing live for many years and known for holding a monthly residency at the Cameron House, Run With the Kittens is sort of like Toronto's best-hidden secret when it comes to live music. The band's style is difficult to describe, as it includes a huge variety of influences. They play some form of indie/rock-and-roll/lounge/blues, being tight, provocative, subtle, and entertaining all at the same time. They have recently released a new double-album "Casio Glue Bomb". Originally a 4-piece band, Run With the Kittens have successfully adapted into being a trio, and live is where they really shine. A captivating performance, not to be missed!
