Just Opera presents Happier Together - An Evening of Operatic Ensembles
Borders and paperwork can keep us apart -- music can bring us together. Join us on June 30 for a evening of musical entertainment that will unite hearts, uplift spirits, and shine light into the darkness. The talented singers of Just Opera will join forces to present a program of beloved operatic ensembles ranging from the lighthearted, to the dramatic, to the sublime, including musical selections from Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, Lakme, and Der Rosenkavalier. All proceeds from the concert will support Just Operas upcoming production of Giancarlo Menottis opera, The Consul, which runs from August 25-27 at the MACLA theater in downtown San Jose. In the light of current events, it is more important than ever for us to bring this work to the stage--we urge you to support Just Operas vision! Performers: Katia Hayati, soprano Elizabeth Patterson, soprano Elana Cowen, mezzo-soprano Matthew La Rochelle, baritone Lindsey Breitschaedel, piano Visit our website: justopera.org Find us on Facebook: fb.me/justoperaco About The Consul: Just as relevant today as when it premiered in 1950, this American opera tells the story of a woman trying to flee an unnamed totalitarian country who is stopped and ultimately killed by the extreme vetting necessary to obtain a visa. The show has a sweeping score, with stirring arias and powerful ensembles. This production will be staged in a black box theater that will put the audience in the consulate waiting room together with the actors, and the intimate setting will reinforce the poignancy of the message.
